A True Angel Story

Archie Meets Sebastian

Archie was just seven years old, when a very special and most magical thing happened to him. So magical it would change his life forever.

The story begins with a sad beginning as lots of fairytales do. Oh, but the adventures and surprises to follow, would out shine all sad beginnings.

Archie had a best friend called George, whom he loved dearly. Nobody in Archie’s world was quite like George.

The two boys had stuck together like glue, since they were four years old. They shared their biggest secrets.

They told each other their scary thoughts. They giggled and tickled and grew in the glow of their friendship. Then, the summer that Archie was seven, George had to move away with his family. His Daddy worked on the big ships and that meant not only were they moving away, but far, far away to the other side of the world.

Archie and George hugged and squeezed for the last time for many days and nights to come. They promised each other they would always be best friends, no matter what.

Only a few weeks passed. Archie began to feel very sad and lonely. He missed George so much already. It hurt his tiny heart to be far away from him. Archie did not know who to talk to. His Daddy, who had always made him feel brave and safe, had left too, not long before George had. His Mummy was a very busy lady, looking after his two brothers and sister. And George, well he was all the way across the oceans.

Archie sat in his bedroom, looking up at the stars, and he cried. Big, big tears. Too big for a little boy, just seven. Then Archie’s eyes caught a glimpse of a star that seemed to twinkle on and off. It shone much brighter than all the other stars. Archie remembered his Mummy telling him, that she had once wished upon a star for Archie to be born and it had come true.

With all his heart, Archie sent a wish up and up to that beautiful star in the heavens above. He wished for a friend that would never, ever leave him. He wished for a friend to talk to, share his secrets with. A friend that would help him feel safe and brave. Just like his Daddy.  A friend that would make him feel that fuzzy feeling of smiles and happy thoughts, just like George.

With a goodnight kiss to the moon and the stars, Archie snuggled deep and cosy beneath his blankets and fell fast asleep. In the middle of the night, Archie awoke from a strange dream.  He blinked and blinked again, the dream did not seem to be going away.

There beside Archie’s bed was a shimmering white light, as bright as you could possibly imagine and yet so sweetly gentle, that it did not hurt Archie’s eyes. From this perfect light an Angel appeared radiating magical feelings of love, kindness, sunshine, rainbows and sugar candy. He looked bold, strong, safe and warm. The deliciously warm feelings, fizzing like bubbles in Archie’s belly were such a mixture of exciting, beautiful things that he seemed to have forgotten how to talk and sat upright in bed, his mouth wide open.

The Angel offered Archie his hand; his kind eyes a dazzling blue. “You are so beautiful” Archie gasped. “So are you, Archie. You wished upon your star tonight, the star that shone brightly just for you. Your star Archie". “I wished for a friend that will never ever leave me” whispered Archie “Will my wish come true?”

“Sweet child. I am your friend that will never leave you. I am your Guardian Angel. A being of magical light that will wrap you in wings of love, keeping you safe, holding you tight. Listening to your secrets and worries day or night. I am the warm summer breeze, a giggle, a smile. A cuddle to dry your tears, a kiss on your cheek when you are down. A velvet white feather to show you I am all around. Just ask sweet Archie, just call my name from your heart and I, your Guardian Angel will never, ever be far.”

A warm breeze stroked Archie’s hair, the shimmering Angel gently faded. Archie rested his tired head back upon his pillow. A dim glow, still beside him as he closed his eyes.“I don’t even know your name” Archie murmured. As if from thin air, a crisp piece of paper, landed as silently as a feather upon Archie’s pillow.

And on this tiny note was just one word sent from Heaven. Sebastian.
